Planning a Summer Wedding
Many people choose a summer wedding because they want to get married outdoors under warm sunshine. If you’re in the process of planning a summer wedding, here are some tips to help you make your summer wedding the best it can be.
Many of the aspects of a summer wedding are basically the same as they would be for a wedding in any other season. You’ll still need to come up with a guest list, send out invitations, plan a reception, and of course choose a wedding gown.
The gown you choose will not only reflect your own personal style and preference, but may also tie in to the particular season. In the summertime, you can get away with wearing a less formal gown. Try a casual, shorter gown or a simple fitted gown in a longer length. If you’re getting married on the beach, it’s customary to go barefoot. Adorn your hair with wildflowers, and keep your makeup light and beachy for a summery feel. No red lipstick here — go for a soft gloss in a shimmery bronze shade. For a warm glow, use sunless tanner for the month prior to your wedding for a safe yet natural looking tan on your special day.
One important part of any wedding is the flowers. Some great summer wedding flowers you could choose for your wedding include: cosmos, zinnias, mums, roses, dahlias, lilies and daisies. There are so many gorgeous varieties of flowers to choose from in the summer months that it’ll be difficult figuring out which blossoming beauties you want for your special day.
Another big aspect of your wedding is the cake. Summer themed wedding cakes are a great way to celebrate the season. Try a fluffy lemon cake with white icing, adorned with summer blooms. For the rest of the menu, keep things light. Seafood makes a great choice for any summer wedding menu, accompanied by side dishes such as corn on the cob and fresh summer vegetables.
If you want to incorporate a theme into your summer wedding, then how about a beach theme? You could decorate with shells and oceanic shades of blue. For cute wedding favors, how about scented candles with real sea shells embedded in the wax? For a beach themed wedding menu, you could do an outdoor barbecue, close to the ocean if possible!
