After a while we started watching episodes of Friends that he had on DVD in his
room. From there things got cozier, and we watched Friends together every night
throughout the summer. Finally, and we began dating. He took me to the beach
after our last day of work. As we were walking along the beach, bathed in dim
light from the moon, Adam took me by the hand, looked into my eyes and asked me
to be his girlfriend.
Yeah, I know what you’re all thinking; “Awww!”. While a little syrupy sweet, it
did the trick. Ever since that summer six years ago I’ve known that Adam is the
one for me. We explore life together, share our ups and downs, and really
connect.
Adam- Thank you very much.
You’ve shown me so many things about myself that I would never have realized if
it weren’t for you. Thank you for always pushing me, showing me that I can do
whatever I set my mind to. Thank you for living life with me. Our little
“adventures” of kayaking, hiking, white-water rafting remind me how much fun we
have together. Thank you for sitting on the couch with me when I’m sick. Thank
you for bringing me back to reality when I begin to get unnecessarily stressed.
Thank you for laying with me, pretending to enjoy whatever chick flick I have
put on for the night. Most of all, thank you for filling my life with joy and
happiness.
It is because of this, what we
do for each other, that we’re getting engaged. Adam and I recently took a trip
to Europe. He proposed to me on the balcony of our hotel room, overlooking the
lights of Paris. It was the single, most happy moment of my life. There is not a
doubt in my mind that I want to marry this man beside me.
So thank you, everyone, for
coming to celebrate this event. Adam and I cannot wait until we see all of you
at are wedding, when we will become man and wife. It really means a lot to us
that we have your support in this. It shows that you look at us and see a couple
who is truly in love, and should be together for the rest of their lives.
